Our final full day!

Image
Hi everyone, Well what a day for both groups - a huge adventure for everyone! Everyone has completed a very long, tough hill walk which has required maximum effort and excellent team work. It has been one of the hottest days of the week so it has been a real challenge for all children (with minimal complaint) and I am so proud of each and every one of them! We have seen some outstanding views and Miss Cullen's group managed to enjoy another boat ride and a tasty ice cream. Everyone is looking forward to seeing their family and friends tomorrow. Night x

Another tremendous day in Derwent Hill

Image
Good evening everyone, Another thrilling day where we have again really pushed and challenged ourselves. Mrs Norton's group had fun learning more about the Derwent Hill grounds during orienteering - and enjoying the glorious sunshine - this morning. This afternoon they had a fantastic time on the lake whilst canoeing. I think some were daredevils and jumped in the freezing water! Miss Cullen's group spent the morning gorge walking which proved extremely challenging - including putting wet suits on! The children were fantastic and were jumping in from all angles. This afternoon we completed the famous 'Death swing'. We all worked together as a team getting people to the top of the tree and then unhooking them once they were back down. Even Miss Cullen had a go! And what better way to finish the evening than a beautiful night walk up to Latrigg. Outstanding views!

Day 2

Image
Hi everyone, Day 2 has been just as exciting as yesterday. We all woke to a lavish full English breakfast which set us up for the day. We all  had our first room inspections (which went surprisingly well!). Let's hope we can keep it up all week. We separated into our groups and Miss Cullen's group headed straight back down to the marina where we had a morning on the river in canoes. We built two rafts and had great fun learning how to navigate them in the right direction as it was especially windy. We weren't the best when we started but we really challenged ourselves and became pro's by the end of the morning. This afternoon we went orienteering around the grounds and got to grips with map reading ready for our hill walk on Thursday! Mrs Norton's group conquered their fears first thing this morning with a trip to the big swing AKA 'death swing'. They were all fantastic and did so well with an extremely challenging activity. After their lunch

Our first day!

Hi everyone, We have had a fantastic two days at Derwent Hill. As soon as we arrived Miss Cullen's group ventured off to the lake and caught a boat ride over to Keswick before climbing Castlehead on our first scramble (very challenging but we did ourselves proud). Mrs Norton's group completed the low ropes challenge and various other team building activities, which gave their instructor a great opportunity to get to know everyone. We finished our day off with a long walk, in the sunshine, to the park where we played lots of games and had great fun catching back up with each other. Speak soon x
